About Leigh Meyer

20240211_133220.jpg

Leigh Meyer has always had an entrepreneurial spirit. As an elementary school-aged girl, she often enlisted the help of her best friend for one of her money-making ideas.  Lemonade stands, a "circus" in the backyard, and a hedge-trimming service were among their endeavors, but she also had a benevolent heart when the dynamic duo collected for the Empty Stocking Fund...in July! â€‹

Leigh started her first income-producing business when she was around 14 years old teaching riding lessons with her horse.

At the age of 16, she began teaching swimming lessons in her family's pool during the summer. 1980 was the year of struggle for the real estate industry; however, coming from a real estate family, she wanted to give it a go. Interest rates for conventional financing were 21 to 23%. Although she successful in the real estate industry, the income wasn't enough to help support her young family. She went part-time in real estate and became involved in corporate aviation training through FlightSafety International. Leigh was an integral part of their marketing department, and after leaving the organization, her manager remarked, "We have not been able to replace Leigh with a person of her abilities and work ethic. She is very resourceful and can accomplish any goal she sets her mind to."

After leaving FlightSafety,  she went back to the real estate industry and opened a real estate appraisal company on the north side of Atlanta which she operated for ten years. Leigh began riding horses again for a hobby and decided to go full time in the mid 90s. She and her husband, an established trainer, opened an Arabian show horse training program in 1989, and in 1996 it became a full time profession for her including starting a horsemanship academy, a non-profit Equine Assisted Activities and Therapeutic Horseback Riding program, and a nationally competitive horse training program.

As a bonus to her other qualities and abilities, she is a self-taught, folk artist and offers some of her work on a variety of "canvases!" Each work that she creates has a sentimental catalyst behind it. Each one has some kind of special meaning for her or for a friend or client and she finds great satisfaction in sharing this gift with others. It is extremely gratifying to create something special for others!

Leigh has an abundance of valuable experience and knowledge and an entrepreneurial spirit. You will find her to be adaptable, creative, dedicated, energetic, resourceful, and genuinely interested in helping each client have a memorable experience.

The Cowgirl Code

1. LIVE EACH DAY WITH COURAGE - Courage is a character quality that is desirable in everything we do...as horsemen and as citizens of this planet. Without it, we would live pitiful, self serving lives of empty, lonely mediocrity.

2. TAKE PRIDE IN YOUR WORK - We can only Take Pride in Our Work when we have not cheated, taken no shortcuts and given our honest, best effort to everything we've set

3. ALWAYS FINISH WHAT YOU START - The ability and determination to Finish What You Start is a hallmark in the lives of great leaders. It is a necessary component in the success of any life or endeavor and something we strive for in all we do.

4. DO WHAT HAS TO BE DONE - When we Do What Has to Be Done, we have a key building block for living with joy and satisfaction. "Heroes are the people who do what has to be done when it needs to be done, regardless of the consequences." *

5. BE TOUGH, BUT BE FAIR - Being Tough can be challenging when we're leading our team to an ultimate goal. However, when we've established a relationship of respect by Being Fair even when we are tough, we always have a greater chance of reaching that goal with the admiration and respect of our team.

6. WHEN YOU MAKE A PROMISE, KEEP IT - "My word is my bond." These are words we live by. When You Make a Promise, Do You Keep It? Is our word and a handshake good enough for others to work with us? That's what we work toward.

7. RIDE FOR THE BRAND - "When a cowgirl agreed to ‘Ride For The Brand,’ it meant they were ready to work, and be loyal to their outfit . . . to live, fight, and if necessary, die for it." A Brand is an identity and everything we do reflects that identity. We work hard to honor the people we work with.

8. TALK LESS AND SAY MORE - Actions speak louder than words. Living out what we talk about is much harder than just talking about it. Imagine how much quieter and productive things would be it we Talked Less and Said More!

9. REMEMBER THAT SOME THINGS ARE NOT FOR SALE - Some Things Are Not For Sale. Never compromise your best for something less

10. KNOW WHERE TO DRAW THE LINE - When you know right is right and wrong is wrong, you'll always Know Where to Draw the Line
