Do You Know I'm Here?

My friend was struggling with some things going on in her life. "God! Do You know I'm here?" "Are You listening?" "Are You really there?" The answers to these questions are fundamental to our belief, and trust, in God. There was no thunderous boom or powerful voice she'd love to hear! She went about her daily routine, thinking often about her problems. "How do you hear from God?" she wondered. She needed some clarity. She wanted to be able to make the right decisions confidently. She wanted to be where God wanted her to be. But where was that??!!

The words Jesus said so many times we can see in Scripture came to mind more often as the day pressed on. "Follow me!" "Follow me!" His words rang in her head!
Exasperated, she finally cried out, "I am trying! But, I don't know where You are!!!" All her mind's ear could hear was, "Follow me."

At the end of the day, she was looking forward to a nice, hot shower. As she let the warm water soothe her tense muscles, she turned, and there on the shower door was His message to her. The image was the reassurance she needed and she realized that He was right with her.

When the glass door dried, there were no marks or smudges to be seen that could account for the image of the cross that had been there just moments earlier. It was simply a loving Father telling His treasured daughter He was there with her and to keep her eyes, ears, and heart on Him. Look for Him and she'd always be where He intended her to be.

He longs for us to want to know Him, to "hear" His voice, and to trust Him. He won't make us love Him or want to be with Him. He loves us too much for that. But when we choose Him, He promises to never leave us alone.

This is a true story. When she told me about that day and showed me the picture she took of Jesus' cross on the shower door of all places, which was His personal message to her, I had to tell the story! The only thing I added to the image she shared was the different colors I used to represent the many times Jesus is right there with us even when we don't see Him. If you want to know more about how to have confidence that God is right with you, message me and I'll tell you how He's made it clear that He is always with me! ~Leigh Meyer
